Behind the front that same day highs were 10-15 degrees cooler. It stalled west of the Magic Valley, and Twin Falls recorded a record high of 94 on the 17 th. The cold front ahead of the trough moved into western Idaho late on the 16 th. Temperatures quickly rebounded on the 16 th under southwest flow aloft ahead of the next trough. On the 15 th a record low of 26 was set at Burns. Twin Falls recorded a record low of 37 on the 14 th. ![]() The trough lingered through the 15th, keeping temperatures around 15 degrees below normal. Welcome to NumPy! # Welcome to the absolute beginner’s guide to NumPy! If you have comments or And I'll see you guys in another video.NumPy: the absolute basics for beginners # To test your understanding of this, see if you can apply the same process to the second question we did. So let's flip back to the first question and take a look at how our matrix is getting larger and larger here. Now, if we hit Run, we'll see that instead of having A grow in size, it's just overwriting the rows that already exist. Up here, we have to index into the first row of the zero matrix and overwrite these values with the values contained in this vector. I'll go ahead and copy it over from the first example and make one little tweak. So I'll create a placeholder matrix of zeros that is this size. This first line will define how large the final matrix will be. Our code is going to look really similar to before, with the exception of two lines. Let's use preallocation with the first example. But it is noticeable for matrices that grow really large in size. It might not affect the performance of our current example. Preallocation is a way to optimize your MATLAB code by explicitly defining the final size of a growing array or a growing matrix. So now, some of you may point out that this process would be faster if we preallocated memory. You may come up with something slightly different that still works. Now, I just want to mention that the solution that I'm providing is non-unique. So if we run this, we should get the matrix we expect. So I'll write B of colon comma I equals 2 times B of colon comma I minus 1 and then end. ![]() Next up is writing the pattern in MATLAB code. So when we set up our loop, we'll say, for I equals 2:4. And this time, we're appending three more columns to B. So just like before, let's create our initial vector, B. In this case, each column's values are double the values in the column before it. So the first step is to figure out the pattern. And we want to produce the following matrix. This time, we'll start with this column vector. And since we left the statement unsuppressed, we can see each iteration as well. As we can see, we get the matrix we were expecting. Now, let's see what happens when we hit Run. And we'll continue to iterate through the loop until we've gone through all the index variables. The result will be that A is a 3-by-5 matrix. We index into all of the columns in the third row and set those values equal to 1 plus the row above it. So after one iteration, A is now a 2 by 5 matrix. And the second part, equals A of I minus 1 comma colon plus 1 means that we are setting the second row equal to 1 plus the values in the row before it, in this case row 1, and then end. A of I comma colon means we are indexing into all of the columns in row I, which in this case is row 2. Then inside the loop, I'll write the following command: A of I comma colon equals A of I minus 1 comma colon plus 1, and then end. I'll go ahead and create an index variable for i equals 2 through 5. So this means we're going to need four iterations in the loop. We know that we need to append four rows to our current vector. So now that we have our vector, we need to think about creating our matrix in a loop. And I'll show you why at the end of the video. I'm not going to suppress the outputs in this example. So now that we found the pattern, the question is, how do we create this matrix in a loop? Well, the first step is going to be to create the initial vector. And the second column reads 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, et cetera, et cetera. ![]() See, this first column reads 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. ![]() The values in each row are equal to 1 plus the values above it. If we look closely at this matrix, we can see a pattern. And I want to make the following matrix from it, this one right here. We're going to do this by answering a few questions. Today, we're going to talk about creating a matrix in a loop. Hello, and welcome back to another MATLAB video. Even the Support link took us to Intego's website, not CyberGhost. Shouldn't that be 'Scan with CyberGhost', we thought? Well, no, apparently not – when we chose 'Scan with Intego', an 'Intego Antivirus Premium' window opened, with an entirely different interface, new features and settings, and precisely no mention of CyberGhost, at all. The real confusion began when we opened an Explorer window, right clicked a folder and noticed the new 'Scan with Intego' option. We don't know why the figures are different and in this case it's probably not important, but just seeing CyberGhost's console display apparently false information left us a little concerned. 262? That seemed hard to believe, so we checked the full report, and that had a more plausible total of 15,335. But then we looked more closely at CyberGhost's report, which said it had scanned only 262 files. Our first Quick Scan completed in what we thought was a speedy five minutes. This looks a little cluttered, and it's not always comfortable to use, but you'll find your way around within a couple of minutes. This opened with an Activity panel, a detailed view of recent antivirus activities (scans, definition updates, quarantined files, more), a Quick Scan button, and easy access to more detailed status information and in-depth reports. 'Installing Intego Antivirus', a panel informed us, disappearing after a minute or two and presenting us with CyberGhost's antivirus console. We chose Antivirus and accepted its offer to activate the module. But then you notice three tiny new icons on the left-hand sidebar which point you to the Antivirus, Privacy Guard and Security Updater. It shows the currently selected location, and there's the Connect/Disconnect button, plus the Settings icon bottom-left, as usual. But this is still a worrying security flaw that we rarely see with the top antivirus providers.Īt first glance, the CyberGhost Security Suite for Windows looks just like the VPN app. And even when we stopped CyberGhost's service, Windows stepped in immediately, warned us of the problem and enabled Windows Defender, so we weren't left entirely unprotected. This isn't very likely to happen, and if an attacker can run a script with administrator rights then you're already in a lot of trouble. In particular, an attacker with admin rights could stop or even delete key services without difficulty, disabling some antivirus functionality. We found the suite had decent self-protection in some areas, but was poor in others. To test for this, we tried to disable CyberGhost's antivirus by deleting files, killing processes, stopping services, removing drivers and more. Whatever antivirus you're using, it's important that it can protect itself from attack, as malware will often try to disable security software before infecting your system. So, installing CyberGhost Security Suite gets you Intego Antivirus installed in the background, and that, in turn, equips your system with Avira's engine. ![]() Intego is expert at producing antivirus for Mac, but the firm turned to Avira to provide the engine and definitions in its own Windows products. The antivirus module is advertised as 'powered by Intego', but that doesn't tell the whole story. We weren't hassled by complicated options, it didn't demand we remove other security apps, or even that we reboot: we just ran the installer, and it was finished in a few seconds. It's likely you'll use some of your device allowance solely for the VPN – a couple of mobiles maybe, a smart TV, a tablet, leaving only three free slots for the security suite – but that's still seriously cheap.ĬyberGhost has years of experience in building easy-to-use VPN apps, so it's no surprise that Security Suite installation is quick and easy. ![]() Keep in mind that CyberGhost plans cover up to seven devices, too, so that single $1 could get you antivirus for, say, up to seven Windows laptops. Moving to the three-year plan costs $2.25 for the VPN, $3.25 when you add the security bundle, so you're getting the antivirus and everything else for just an extra $1 a month. Opt for the annual plan, and the total price drops to $5.89 for the VPN and security bundle, compared to $3.99 for the VPN alone. You can sign up for CyberGhost Security Suite hereĪll this extra security power is available as an add-on to the VPN, in a plan called 'VPN + Security Bundle.' Pricing looks fair at $17.99 billed monthly, only $5 more than the VPN-only price. ![]() An Intego and Avira-powered antivirus provides real-time protection from malware, plus a Security Updater alerts you to outdated apps, and Privacy Guard makes it easy to lock down a mass of Windows privacy settings.Īll CyberGhost customers also get access to its ID Guard service, a free tool which raises an alert if your email address appears in a data breach. ![]() The suite takes CyberGhost's excellent VPN as a starting point, then adds three new security tools. ![]() Within this hallway, you will make your kill box. Muzzle brakes can make rifles more accurate due to the reduction in recoil. This is typically a result of the shockwave being redirected to the sides as opposed to the sound itself. Other shooters in close proximity will often find the sound to be louder than normal. The reason why they sound so loud to shooters on the range is that a muzzle brake is designed to vent the gasses to the sides of the muzzle instead of just letting the gasses flow straight out of the muzzle. They don’t necessarily make the shot louder, although it sounds that way. ![]() They add up to 3 inches of length of the barrel, will slightly reduce the velocity of the round, and they are LOUD. In all fairness, muzzle brakes do have a couple of disadvantages. While a flash hider is intended to reduce visible flash, a muzzle brake is designed to reduce recoil inherent to larger cartridges such as the 7.62 and typically does not reduce visible flash. Best AR15 Muzzle Devices Faxon A2 Birdcage Flash Hiderīest All-Around Flash Hider for the Money The reduction in recoil allows the shooter to retain better control of the weapon for follow-up shots. The muzzle brake redirects the escaping gasses to the sides (180 degrees from the shooter) reducing the rearward recoil of larger caliber rifles. Consequently, the visual signature of your position will be much harder for others to see and identify. Hiding or eliminating the muzzle flash is extremely important when shooting at night or during low light conditions. Generally the shorter the barrel, the brighter and more violent of a flash you’ll experience. The flash hider is designed to disrupt the escaping gasses with the goal of greatly reducing or eliminating the muzzle flash. ![]() Depending on what your needs are, the right muzzle device will enhance the performance of any AR-15. What are the Different Type of Muzzle Devices?Įach of the different muzzle devices serves a specific purpose. This redirection of the escaping gasses counters a portion of the rearward movement that produces felt recoil in the hands and shoulder. The flat, wall-like surfaces of the muzzle brake’s chambers redirect the escaping gasses to the sides of the shooter instead of downrange. Muzzle brakes reduce the amount of felt recoil. Flash hiders are designed to disrupt that reaction to the oxygen-rich air, thus reducing or eliminating the muzzle flash. This chemical reaction causes a brief but bright fireball known as muzzle flash. The ‘un-burnt’ gasses that leave the barrel have a tendency to combust when it comes into contact with the oxygen-rich air outside of the gun. Most of the gasses are burned up in the process depending on the length of the barrel, but there are some that escape the muzzle as the bullet leaves the barrel. When it comes to choosing the right muzzle device for your firearm, it ultimately depends on your shooting style and personal preferences. On the other hand, flash hiders are designed to minimize the visible muzzle flash and protect the shooter’s vision during low-light or nighttime conditions. Muzzle brakes are made with the purpose of reducing felt recoil, resulting in improved accuracy and the ability to swiftly fire follow-up shots. Almost all AR-15 rifles have a threaded barrel, so this is something anybody can do without having to pay a gunsmith or your local gun shop to install.
